For #BeyondFriday this week, we are bringing you Mike Mendez's 2000 film, The Convent. A campy satanic nunsploitation film with devil worshipping covens. Plus Adrienne Barbeau! Coolio!. Join us at the usual time, usual place (Bluesky) on Friday night.

Hell yes. An hour and a half of pure monster delight. I watched this religiously as a kid and now it's a must around Halloween.

Apparently the vibe of the day is "waking up with Clarence Carter playing in your head" 🥴

This movie absolutely rules. Can't wait for more people to see it 🤗
ODDITY damn near gave me a heart attack. Great example that, to quote @aprilwolfe.bsky.social, it's not what happens but *how* it happens that makes a movie special.

TCM is airing 10 Ginger Rogers movies tomorrow July 16, including many deep cuts. As one who’s seen 72 of her 73 films, here are my top picks: • The Gay Divorcée (obviously!) • In Person (1935) • Twenty Million Sweethearts (1934) • Storm Warning (1951) • Professional Sweetheart (1933) #TCMParty

Stephanie Rothman managed to elevate pretty much any genre she touched. Wish she had made more films 😭

I adore old made-for-TV murder mysteries and this satire of the 70's staple is pitch perfect. Plus more movies need odd interludes/breaks à la the Werewolf Break in The Beast Must Die. Bonus points for including a recipe card for the chili interlude.

LOLA is fantastic and Severin did a helluva job with their release of it. Love seeing indie flicks getting the deserved love.

I wouldn't miss Agatha All Along for the world. But I love witch shit, and I care about the character. The most recent trailer has me concerned that folks not already in the same camp aren't going to show up for the series.

Waiting for the fam to wake up so I can throw the same damn masterpiece I play every Saturday morning of BlobFest. It really sets the perfect mood before hitting the town for some retro sci-fi shenanigans.

Here's hoping a day of shit completely hitting the fan only means smooth sailing for the weekend and BlobFest.
