One of the biggest problems with Trump is that he made people feel empowered to be openly shitty and reverse decades of societal improvement (which I suspect is part of the reason young men are trending in the wrong direction), driving that shit back into the shadows is important
i have mixed feelings about this because on one hand - they should feel shame. they should keep it to themselves and behave in society.
on the other hand. i have truly appreciated knowing who is actually terrible sooner. esp on the dating apps.
It's been really good to have the "warning label" effect. The problem is young people used to be somewhat protected from being indoctrinated as they grew up because the people around them didn't dare to say all this stuff. Now they do it openly, more kids are getting sucked into it.
If you're still on good terms with Trump-supporting family or friends, what are you waiting for to happen before you'll impose a social cost by cutting them out of your life? Are you going to brush human soot off your sleeve on your way to Thanksgiving, if it comes to that?
