I assume war will begin shortly because of this.

I’m glad to have contributed to the discourse.

Would Cheeseburger bao are also good

This makes me want my childhood hot dogs fried in egg roll wraps again.

me too 💔 broke my heart when i last visited & they didn't have them any more. and also silver diner sucks now. it used to be downright amazing. the best place in the world to go at 3am. never seen its equal elsewhere, not in NYC or anywhere.

Just like with pizza, the best diners are found in NJ, not NYC

Does this mean someone else has had this other than me?

… yes, though in Arizona, they were technically tortillas (like the uncooked ones from Tortilla land or Costco, so constitutionally identical to egg roll wrappers) and I’m not sure if they were fried or baked.

Hot dog wrapped in a croissant. 🥐

We have those in the Netherlands. 'saucijzenbroodjes'.

Sausage, egg, and cheese bao are my favorite

back in high school I had an assignment to write a business plan for a local business, and I proposed a combination Chinese food and pizza place. An idea ahead of it's time!
Avatar
pizza bao sounds delicious, its basically a small calzone
Avatar
I played around with this and a bacon cheeseburger once. Neither were successful but i still believe it to be valid!

You could’ve been mayor of Oakland by now with it.
Avatar
we had one of those here 20-25 years ago. the pizzas all tasted like chinese food.

that could be really good or really bad.

Being just okay would be the most disappointing outcome

I've had them. They're just OK. Really need more spice to the pizza sauce. They also have a BBQ chicken flavor that I enjoyed much more.
Avatar
I've also had them. They're just ok, and on the less exciting side of that.

Given the popularity and commonality of pizza bread, pizza sandwiches, and other options in Japan... honestly, I think they'd at least try pizza dumplings around the region? There's probably some already available.

Pizza-man have been a standard option as a hot food selection at most convenience stores for at least a decade.
Avatar
I very rarely look in the hot food selection other than to ask for famichiki, but that does not surprise me lol

Here's a comparison of the pizza-man from the three major chains:

I read that as Bad buns and I’m ok with it.
Avatar
I read it as bro buns, which also works
Avatar
Glad I'm not the only one because it made more sense to me that way
Avatar
'Cause baby now we've got bad buns.

Personally, I am here for these weirdly-shaped calzones, as I am for all calzones.

I had a pizza bao in Tokyo from a family mart or similar and I’ve been unsuccessfully chasing that dragon ever since. No frozen pizza bao has come close so far, maybe this one would.
Avatar
“This will fix me” they said, staring into the frozen foods case.

Do you recall the “toppings”? The thing I dislike most about this is that it is margarita. I need to imagine other flavors because that one certainly doesn’t work.
Avatar
*Margherita margarita would be gross too.
Avatar
It was just marinara sauce and mozzarella iirc, it was good af
Avatar
Terrible. Where are these located so I can make sure no one has a chance to buy them
Avatar
Cold case at the Richmond Grocery Outlet, AKA Serendipity Shopping. You can never go there with a planned shopping list, you just get lucky.
Avatar
I miss Grocery Outlet, the land of "this is so weird I need to inflict it on friends" and "I didn't know I needed this much of that thing"

Avatar
No, I just don't live anywhere near one anymore
Avatar
Ah okay I'm relieved 😅 I have been in an area without them but was looking forward to going back to them once I move back
