That applies to so many GOP electeds. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley are not stupid. They just know how to get and keep power by doing what their voters want - “own the libs”
I mean, Cruz is *definitely* stupid, it's just that you have to figure out which dumbass thing he says or does is a result of actual stupidity or just him lying for votes and/or donor money.

At some point attention-seekers like JD Vance are going to have to cut their losses and find another meal ticket, because without Trump they’re nothing.
I think some of them (Vance and Stefanik in particular) are high on their own supply and think the Trump cult will decide to glom onto their smarmy Ivy League personalities once Trump is gone.
Vance has gone too far to turn around now. His wagon is hitched and along for the ride. It got him a senatorship, maybe it'll keep it for him? I know sane Ohioans, but the state does seem pretty fucked up.
