Fun fact; there is supposedly a way to make your file locations default. It doesn't work. It defaults back to OneDrive EVERY FUCKING DAY ANYWAYS.

Nope. It does it with my home copy. I've followed the step by step directions on changing the default in the past.

Very odd. Hasn't been my experience - not even after the Win11 upgrade. I don't have a personal Outlook/Microsoft account so I only had to tell it "no" once years ago, and it's never tried to force me to create one.

It can be the opposite. Source: I save things locally and OneDrive just backs it up to the cloud.

I refuse the Cloud.

That's fair! It can be very annoying. All I know is I have my stuff backed up on OneDrive, and every time I put a new computer in circulation, I just pull the required install files from there to customize it for whatever purpose it's supposed to have.

the best part of this is once its on onedrive and you delete it from the cloud it goes on to your computer and deletes it too to "sync"

I don't even want to save to the Documents folder. I want to save to the one I made. With my name on it. That I can get to directly in File Explorer without any weirdness.

I have never felt so heard. I still accidentally do the old save-as menu occasionally and rage every single time. Everyone, from a writer -- don't ever use a "free" cloud service as your default save. Back everything up in multiple places and assume anything free is stealing your content for AI.

I signed up my (old job) IT dept for those coupon mailer things, and insurance offers and all that snail mail stuff to clog their IRL mailbox, take that ya bastards

I got one of those training modules and then the very next day corporate IT sent an actual email that was so badly edited that everyone reported it as a phishing attempt
