Was working on a text and laboriously typed "Siouxsie and the Banshees" only to watch helplessly as autocorrect changed "Siouxsie" to "Susie" and all of a sudden I want to burn all of Silicon Valley to the ground. That's not an overreaction is it?

People will really yell at you if you suggest AI models should pay for a license to all the works they ingest and cite their sources in their answers. I think it’s in part bc they believe in the magic of a machine intelligence. But we see more and more undeniable examples of straight up copying.

The term “main character syndrome” might’ve been coined to describe Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Also, I know I have an omen-haunted brain—that I’m absurdly prone to believing the universe is sending me signals. But I worked longhand yesterday morning and then in the evening, at a Michael Koryta event, a stranger gave me a beautiful fountain pen. That seemed non-random.

The last story I wrote longhand was “Rain” & then I quit working that way for years. Yesterday I went back to the pen & it was such a pleasure I wonder why I stopped. But I know why: I told myself it was faster to begin on the computer. Only it’s not true! It takes exactly the same amount of time.

The Seattle Museum of Pop Culture has deemed our movie worth representing and holy shit what an honor.

It’s crazy to think about how many alt-right Twitter clones now exist in the wild: Gab, Truth Social, Parler, and of course X.

AI-generated art (if you wanna call it that) is like Google Glass and the Metaverse. It’s not that most people don’t want it in their lives, they actually actively despise it. It’s a product that generates feelings of loathing rather than delight; dismay rather than joy.

Speaking of AI—apparently you can ask Instagram to show you less stuff with “AI” in the caption. That’s a nice feature, get that shit right out of my feed. (If I wasn’t confined with Covid, I wouldn’t have discovered the ‘Not Interested’ button which tells you summin about how clueless I am)

Second day of isolating with my first ever case of Covid. I’m treating my condition the way you do: by watching videos of Sam Rockwell being hilarious or dancing onto the set of late night talk shows. Sam Rockwell is a fucking gift to the world.
