Really worth watching this explainer on one of the key elements of Project 2025. For Brits, it's also worth noting the similarity with Reform UK's pledge to replace the civil service with political appointees.
You can watch John Oliver's explanation of Schedule F here. Two points: 1) Engage in ideological purges is a central strategy to the GOP's governing doctrine now. 2) There is not equivalent energy in fighting back from the center or the left. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/the-public...

I really don’t think most people realize just how hard the boot will come down if Trump and the Republicans win the election. Most people have never experienced the totalitarian surveillance state with the power to reach into their homes and minds at will they are telling us is their plan.

If you think you're going to be fine if Trump wins this year, Heritage is coming for the *Veterans Administration* with Project 2025. But support the troops or whatever, I guess 🫡🇺🇸

yeah isn't it interesting how they pretend his social media presence doesn't exist right up until he says something that could boost his public perception and then they all post stuff about it within ten minutes of each other
Oh so they DO read his Truth Social profile? That's weird because you think they might have mentioned the post he made about a military tribunal for Liz Cheney

Vote against the party that lies about their bad intentions. They want to make the world worse for most people. Don’t let them.
Stephen Miller now following Trump's lead and saying he has nothing to do with Project 2025. 1. His organization is on the Project 2025 advisory board. 2. He recorded a video as part of Project 2025 training tools 3. You can see Mandate for Leadership, the Project 2025 publication in the background

17 Presidents were Senators, 15 were VPs. Harris has been both. Standard POTUS qualification stuff. There's been only one President who never held a high-ranking government post before: Donald Trump, and it showed through his incompetence and mismanagement.

Always worth remembering who isn’t getting 17 front page stories per day highlighting every gaffe and demanding he step down. Just so we’re clear on who is being told they are unfit and who is not.
This was a speech during which he did not have to answer any questions, he supposedly knew where he was going to be several days ahead of time, and this is what he came up with

You’d almost forget which one of the candidates actually confused another woman with his own ex-wife, and mother of one of his kids, during a deposition.

Seems like one way to find out would be the Secret Service posing a me a homeless person and getting one given to them. Another would be to raid his house and turn his life upside down after his public admission of guilt.
where does he get the counterfeit bills? why does he have those and who made them?

Trump said “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it.” But Project 2025 is run by Trump's closest aides, raising concerns about cognitive fitness for a candidate who seems unable to recall those around him. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/troubling-...

Here's what bothers me about Biden critics. I believe they are simply promoting themselves in this rather than having a legitimate approach to ensuring Trump does not win. "Biden must step aside" is not a strategy to win. It's just not.

Why didn't Trump drop out in 2016? Days before the election he had only a 15% chance of winning.
Stephanopolous' line of questioning is completely ludicrous here now. "You're a bit behind. Shouldn't you drop out?" is an absolutely wild thing to say, given the alternatives and the standards that they apply to the opponent. How about "You're a felon. Shouldn't you drop out?"

I cancelled my subscription to the NY Times yesterday. But this article popped up and I can't tell whether to be glad the exposed them or worried that perhaps they are promoting them as a brain trust? But, no thanks. I'm not going to live in their America, but mine. www.nytimes.com/2024/07/04/u...

Any implications from the UK elections for the US? In particular as different from France? Maybe news media can talk about the parallels of people being tired of crappy government and turn out some of the people jamming up the House and help out in the Senate?

It's fairly insane that MOST political journalists exhibit no understanding that being President and running for President are not the same thing, and often a President who is effective at making policy may not titillate their beltway gossip machine, which reflects on THEIR competence, not his.

History will recall that the New York Times, that bastion of "the liberal media," on July 4, 2024 chose to give prime space on their op-ed page to a theocratic absolutist who argued that people shouldn't vote, even though he himself has voted in the last 2 elections (but nowhere is that mentioned).
When I first saw this I thought "no, that can't possibly be true." But alas, the Times did indeed choose today of all days to publish a right winger's recycled piece about how they don't vote, failing to mention that the author basically thinks absolutist theocracies are cool.
