I'm no ivy league fail upward brunchlord news professional, but I feel it's generous to call conspiratorial fascism (managed by a sociopathic manbaby with a fourth grade reading level) "disruptive" that's kind of like saying nuclear annihilation is "modifying"

“Fasten your seatbelts” is stomach-churning, like they have a real hard on for this possibility.
Avatar
it's so abubdabtly clear they love the controversy clicks a complete dismantling of democracy will provide
Avatar
they think the whole thing will be Mueller Time on steroids and have no sense of the danger to themselves or the country
Avatar
When you have houses in different countries your definition of Crisis looks very different, I'm guessing.
Avatar
they see the world from the backseat of black sedan car service so it's easy to miss the fine print
Avatar
wait until they find out they won't actually be allowed to travel outside the country without permission.

They genuinely believe that they are going to be the Trump Republicans' special little news media buddies, maybe going back & forth on various critical articles, and they do not understand that the Trumpists genuinely despise all of them and will use every power obvious & hidden to destroy them.
Avatar
It hit me maybe 3 years into Trump to realize, I don't think the media ever did: 95 percent, if not more, of the Rs in Government love Trump and want to support him, all those things they say in public to praise and support him are genuine /1
Avatar
....the lies are what they tell the media in private, the stuff about being aghast or not supporting this or that, of being ashamed. After all nothing they have done really matches what they said in private, it matches what they've said in public. They support Trump
Avatar
never have I felt such a level of disdain and antipathy toward a peer group
Avatar
I'm sure they'll be fine. Not like the would-be dictator ever called them an enemy of the people.
Avatar
The whole thing will be "Trump just fired everyone investigating this and coincidentally the whistle blower disappeared"
Avatar
Ooh, Boeing’s new Whistleblower Response Squad can get more contracts!
Avatar
It's like they didn't see what he did the first time, and have not taken one word of the screeching nut balls around him seriously. What would he need any of those people for, he'd just appropriate the whole company, fire everyone (or you know, order 66), then install whoever he wanted to kiss ass.
Avatar
yes, but who cares if the clicks come from real people or from authoritarian state agents
Avatar
Avatar
they're so excited to cash in on those sweet outrage engagement clicks they simply can't hide it they think they'll be safe there in Chelsea
Avatar
Dude's father was the co-founder of Staples. Pretty sure he's going to be fine regardless. Those types usually do well under a "regime."
Avatar
Yeah I really don’t think they know what will come at them in a second term. Or they’re just willfully ignorant
Avatar
Avatar
oops... looks like we're on the same page ;-)
Avatar
They'll just turn into this to curry favor. Hell, they already are. Obeying in advance.

"Fasten your seatbelts! What a wild ride this will be!"

Rubbing their hands thinking about the readership

Interviewer: yeah so what are you guys gonna do when the Nazis win? NYT: make so much fuckin money off liberals losing their shit
Avatar
If it's a zoom call I hope his camera is pointed up.
Avatar
Came here to say something like this! Yikes.
Avatar

Avatar
It also sounds as if the NYT is gagging for a second Trump administration.
Avatar
either a second Trump term (with hearings and controversy and political action) or a really close race followed by Trump et al spending the next four years calling for hearings and generating controvery. either way, they get their "content"
Avatar
There won't be hearings and controversy and political action. The Times will be reduced to an official mouthpiece of Trump's lies. Anyone who doesn't praise Heroic Leader sufficiently will be thrown in jail or possibly even Khashoggi'ed.
Avatar
Trans people will be "cleansed" from the county, but The Times has already made clear that's what they're up for.
Avatar
Trans, disabled, anyone not the right variety of Christian, anyone not white.
Avatar
Eventually, if we don't fight back with everything we've got, yes.
Avatar
Does no one at the Times realize that if Trump wins again, they won't be the ones deciding what they write about?
Avatar
It’s one banana, Michael. How much could it possibly cost, $10?
Avatar
Avatar
the people at the times excited for this won't even have to be told what to write about, they'll eagerly write puff pieces about the Fuher's more svelte waistline now that he only has one scoop of ice cream at dinner
Avatar
They all think "disruptive" is good!! It's high-tech! Psychopaths
Avatar
They aren't picking up that Trump will be disruptive in the same way a stroke is 'disruptive' to arterial blood flowing to your brain.
Avatar
Move fast break the liberal world order.
Avatar
They can't wait for the endless outrage reporting. And they think they'll be safe. If they bend the knee enough they probably will be.
Avatar
at first this sort of shit comes for everybody eventually. They have LGBTQ family.
Avatar
As if they would care about LGBTQ+ family members, they've already shown how much disdain they have for us queer folk. Most journalist at this point make it their personal mission to mainly bring forth bigoted voices while just having a bit in the back about the actual queers.
Avatar
Leadership will be, it’s the reporters who will get purged while they act shocked about it.
Avatar
it's both funny and grotesque how much this sounds like an "If Trump Wins You'll Need Your New York Times Subscription More Than Ever" pitch
