It really sucks to see Chicago cops standing around in throngs all the time, doing literally nothing but talking to each other and playing on their phones!

Truly incredible - wonder how many of these cases required actual investigation rather than just locking up poor people who can’t afford bail in profit prisons
I feel like if we had actual numbers about the true origin of corporate profits and stories from the people trapped doing their prison slave labor, we’d instantly have a lot more prison abolitionists

The US, particularly the legal system, only cares about money. Katzenbach v. McClung, the case that basically upheld the civil rights act could stop places of public accommodation from discriminating based on race, was argued pretty much entirely under the commerce clause.
My hometown’s vice squad got so bored, they arrested a pimp and then took over his operation, exploiting & making money off numerous sex workers they claimed as their own. Worse, when it was discovered, nothing happened to them because the commander was the chief’s friend.
I have an idea: Let’s increase their budget by $2 billion dollars, and get rid of any and all mechanisms for independent oversight of the department.
Sure, there’s nothing to back up my ideas, but I just FEEL like it’ll definitely work, which as we know, is good enough.

Now that a judge has ordered Houston to stop ticketing Food Not Bombs for feeding the homeless near City Hall there may be additional resources for investigating sexual assaults.
In a general sense (I don't mean the cops specifically), can you blame us? It isn't like the entities/companies we work for have our backs anymore. Loyalty and dedication can't be a one-way street.
Too bad we will never get enough accountability to find out how many of these crimes were committed by cops, or friends and family of cops. Because a LOT of rape victims know exactly who did it and probably showed up at the station with a name...
Considering the track records for processing rape kits, having them not show up at all seems like a natural progression. And you aren’t going to be offered emergency contraception either!
