“If they can convict a president for breaking the law, they can convict anybody!” Right, that’s the whole point. Our laws actually apply to everyone. Congrats on just now figuring out how that works.

Who knew "no one is above the law" would be such a difficult concept to grasp?

And from the "party of law and order" no less

But Kevin maybe there should be in groups who the law protects but does not bind alongside out groups who the law binds but does not protect

“What if they did this to other presidents too?” Ok, cool, get the crooks

Maybe if the US didn't make it a four-year process to pick one, they'd be less bothered about tossing out and replacing the bad ones when they're actually in office.

Wait. Do you mean to say I could be arrested, indicted, tried, and convicted by a jury just for doing crimes? Me?? Well that certainly puts a new spin on things.

"We're the party of law and order!" "Yeah and he was convicted in a court of law. What's your point?"
Avatar
If they can convict one criminal, they can convict any criminal. Sounds about right.

The English had a whole civil war about this

Yeah, like, I already knew they could and would prosecute me. I’ve been waiting to find out if the law would apply even approximately equally to people like Trump.

"but ... but ... that would constitute a strong incentive to obey the law, wouldn't it?"

In the MAGA world, day is night, black is white and wrong is right.

If they really thought black was white we wouldn't be in this mess.

They've been saying this about everything happening to Trump since the first investigation. "If the FBI can raid Trump's home, they'll do it to you!" Just a baffling argument.

Even Elon Musk is saying this. Of course the reason he's saying this is because he's being actively investigated by the SEC and he's a fucking crybaby.

Look who’s talking …

I think we are back to the anti-fed govt rhetoric of the late 90s/early 2000s (Jack booted thugs) but white collar. There is a whole industry to this. See bsky.app/profile/ctsc...
Three Felonies a Day is the title of a book written by one of FIRE’s cofounders. not random that the rep used this number and phrase

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..." Of course, fascists are always hypocrites.

I enjoy the schadenfreude as much as the next guy here, but I'm also reminded of how old I was when I learned that equal application of the law hasn't really been how it works I think the reason they're mad is that they know it's been unequal and they don't want it changing

Donald just can't figure that one out 😲

It’s such a weird complaint!
