Just so everyone is clear - gun violence (including suicides) are the leading cause of pediatric death in the US. More than cancer. More than car crashes.

Lots going on here but what about a vending machine requires any kind of AI? Did you train it on a bunch of vending machine data and now your statistical model can tell you when users press C4 they want the item in C4?
Apparently, it uses some sort of fuzzy image processing classifier to guess if you're old enough to purchase ammunition.
I bet the training corpus for it is spectacularly bad, based on past cases where ideological clowns tried to do classification of faces.
