I am such an idiot that I was fully enrolled in and about to start law school before I even knew what degree I was going for. A front office lady asked if I was an LLM or JD student when I called to ask about a financial thing. I had no idea but figured the masters had to come before the doctor?

Law isn’t really a doctorate. That’s another example of the inflation that lawyers give themselves. Your confusion is justifiable.
