The opting out is especially wild Like, Republican governors are being actively presented with money to feed kids and affirmatively saying 'I would like children to starve actually' (Also, if I'm a Dem campaigner, I'm making some ads and placing some op eds about this immediately)
The governors of a dozen Republican-led states — AL, AK, FL, GA, IA, MS, OK, SC, SD, TX, UT, WY — opted out of a new federal food assistance program, leaving about 9.5 million students without the aid this summer

The thing that's obvious to everyone and that nobody can actually write in the press is that the American (and yes, I'm sure elsewhere too) right wing is led by bad people and the object is to make more people extremely bad in basically every respect. It's anti-society

Guys the transition is complete, we’re home.
I've revived the @joeldongsteen.bsky.social account, inspired by the original @joeldongsteen from twitter. It takes every tweet from Joel Osteen, and replaces "God" with "your dick."

So far three men applying to work for me for a state position have thought it appropriate to apply and *then* contact me asking for a convo about the role, or even go out to coffee. The double-L of requesting an ethics violation and also demonstrating that they don’t understand ethics.

genuinely hopeful sign that every big name GOP garbage monster is frantically trying to distance themselves from Project Say The Quiet Part Loud In an Easily-Digestible Bullet Point Format About Which There Can Be No Confusion. this means we should all absolutely continue never shutting up about it

My youngest son (who is five) recently started saying “I hate you, Daddy!” every time I ask him to do something he doesn’t want to do. I redirect him by asking, “Do you really hate me, or do you just not want to do the thing?” Now, he says, “I love you, Daddy. I HATE YOUR IDEAS!!!” 🤣

on the contrary I have accomplished a lot by posting, I have a lot of people who wouldnt even know my work who do now because I post, if posting to large audiences was such a bad idea mass media would not exist, does it do more than other irl stuff? no. what it does do more than ? Not posting
The very worst thing about social media, including this site and the Bad Site and every other site, is the illusion that by posting on it you’re accomplishing anything.

I wish the press would stop reading each other and being idiots. It’s a problem when the “conventional wisdom” overlaps with the fucking stupidest ideas.

I don't take the age thing seriously. THEY PICK A LIE ABOUT EVERY DEM, and the press knows it's some BS but plays along. They know that the other guy is worse in every way, especially his brain. They turned being a war hero into a liability against a fortunate son draft dodger.

also Trump's supporters have no idea what he's saying half the time! no one does! there's no need to overthink this. Trump is popular because he channels vibes-based grievances and wants to punish those groups who his supporters feel have wronged them. That's it.
Trump has never had a speech impediment, and if you read a transcript of his speeches, they make very little sense, if any. It is apparently elitist to point this out, because "his supporters know what he's saying." When you read what he says, this is basically advancing Trump as telepath.

the other thing is that people have no sense of how much space cars and so they imagine that a road full of cars must be a lot of people when it very often is not. a well-used bike lane transports like twice as many people during a given time as does a road
I've become convinced that one of the biggest obstacles to better road design in commercial areas is well-off business owners who drive their BMW to work every day and find it impossible to imagine a customer who uses any other mode of conveyance to arrive at the shop.
