The Miami Vice kerfuffle on Film Twitter reminds me how we should be putting High Fidelity on the pedestal of unintentional cultural damage a la Fight Club. The movie is an entire thesis about how the mindset of "you are what you like" is wrong AND YET.

Briefly logged into Twitter to change the password on my dormant account because of that data hack/leak and was surprised to find that Irvine Welsh has gone full TERF, not what I expected at all:

For all their encyclopedic faults, every GOP candidate for president 2000-2024 (save Romney) has had star power, whereas the Dems have only had Obama and Clinton and you can tell it drives them nuts they can't get the juice back

Got a secondary TV and haven't signed into YouTube on it yet so I'm getting pure uncut algorithm. Gonna just manually search for things to watch without accessing my history or subscriptions and see what happens.

I bought my wife an out-of-print DVD copy of Drop Dead Gorgeous so we could watch it because it's one of her favorites and it's rarely streaming. Didn't really care for it but this is what you do for people you love! It goes both ways!

Another thing you can do is call Dick Durbin's office and demand he stand up for democracy and haul Alito and Thomas before the Senate Judiciary Committee. And publicly demand their resignations. If you can't literally impeach them, AT LEAST use the bully pulpit. 202-224-2152.
