It has been brought to my attention that today is Lillie Bear's adoption day, and what a great big lovable lug of a dog this gal is. I fell in love with her picture on One Tail's page, and I feel really lucky that both families who met her before us said no. Because this lovebug is my baby.

I'm in itchy itchy pain stage of tattoo healing and instead of being an adult about it I'm surreptitiously rubbing my calf on the nubby couch while I move around, hoping it'll slightly scratch the itch, hoping no one (the dogs?) will notice. Brains are so ridiculous.

The robin chicks in the nest on our front porch fledged today and I've had run-ins with two of them; the first was in our side walkway with the dogs and I swear to God Hazel almost got her mouth on it. I was frantic. Just now I went to get the mail and baby almost flew in my house. Mama YELLED.

There is never any shame in using the library, and much benefit in doing so. They are the closest thing to an unmitigated social good that we have in these United States, which is why the hard right is gunning so fervently for them these days. A world without libraries and librarians is a poor one.

My book-buying budget is not what it once was, which is precisely why I’m using the library more. It also gives me the opportunity to read books that I’m not sure I want to add to the home library (not that there’s a lot of room to do that anyway).

I grew up in the era of the Led Zeppelin box set (released 1990) and so my listening was profoundly shaped by it, so much so that YEARS later, I still only expect the next song from the box set to come on, not the next song from the original albums. My brain is so trained on that damn box set.

Just going to continue to say it's impossible to take in the scale of bullshit in the world at this time. No one should try because it's simply not possible. Attention is a limited, non-renewable resource. I feel no guilt for focusing on a few things so that I can make a small impact on those.

I remain astonished at the amount of casual homophobia in the BL fandom. It is literally a genre where the story is centered on two men falling in love, with all that falling in love entails, including scenes of physical love between two men and...you...hate gay people? I can't.

I wish I could get more people in management to understand that not everyone wants to perpetually rise up the ranks by narrowing down what they do into some specialty area. I *like* being a jack of all trades within my trade, so to speak.

Here's a little tip from me to you, people who have periods: do not DO NOT book a tattoo during yours if you can help it. My first 13 were a walk in the park compared to today's torment, and it can only be my period. I've been tatted in this same anatomical area before. I sat for a 5 hour color...
