I'm increasingly feeling like we should just ignore what the Supreme Court says. What are they going to do about it?

Oh a bunch of rich guys no one elected say the laws we've passed are illegal? Literally who gives a shit. Marbury vs. Madison was wrongly decided.

I mean, show me where judicial review exists in article three.

Do we want to keep this standard when Trump is reelected though? Seems like it’s asking for trouble.

Are you kidding? SCOTUS will never rule against him in the case that happens, so effectively it won’t matter much
Avatar
They’ve ruled against him a few times. I’m not holding my breath, but the alternative is that he actually just does whatever with no consequences, especially if the precedent is set by Biden.

I assumed the left would be the first to ignore this clown car of a court, but no! I think the right will beat us to it. All it will take is one “yes you can disenfranchise millions of voters but not retroactively” and Texas will secede again

Take it to the Supreme Court? Too late!

What's the worst they can do, send a strongly worded letter? They have no enforcement!

I think the Republicans already have. I don't remember specifics but I think it was a gerrymandering case in NC or SC and they basically said na, we're not gonna comply. I don't think anything happened.

It'll be conservatives that do it first. Dems are too chicken. Probably won't even try to add to SCOTUS when they get the chance. Repubs would scream and Dems run from that.

How many divisions has the guy who yelled about liking beer?

SCOTUS's entire power is based on our consent. They have no police force.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) it is guaranteed that this is the only logical outcome. Plus the state courts - in states with economies that matter - are going to be extending rights, not curtailing. The collision is unavoidable and I doubt CA is gonna give a shit

If they overturn Chevron this would be both a morally right and ironically funny thing to do.

This is what would be happening under a republican administration with a less conservative court.

Didn't Andrew Jackson tell SCOTUS to stop him? 😬
