One of the things that gets me about all this Trump ass kissing; the same thing happened in NAZI Germany before Hitler came to power. Hitler still had all those newspaper/radio reporters killed and replaced them. Trump is following the same plan.

On INDEPENDENCE DAY they published this. ON THE FOURTH OF JULY 2024 THE NEW YORK TIMES TOLD PEOPLE NOT TO VOTE. I'm furious.

Fucking unbelievable that the big publications are running with this as the lead story after the Supreme Court just promised to install a convicted felon rapist insurrectionist as Emperor for Life.
IMO this is a straight-up ageist and ableist image, no?

Hard agree. We are not safe unless all of us are safe. We are not free unless all of us are free.
I am excited to see the Tories get obliterated today but I would be significantly more excited if Labour hadn’t made a hard turn into TERFdom the trans people of the UK deserve so much better

Suprise: unwashed fascist ghoul Matthew Walther - who wrote a column that the New York Times just published advising Americans not to vote - did in fact vote in 2020 and 2022. It’s time for us to stop tolerating these ratfucking liars.

Fucking @nytimes.com changed the headline and thought no one would notice. The TL;DR: Times runs a stupid "don't vote" piece from an idiotic right wing pundit. Turns out: surprise! The dude voted in both 2022 and 2020, and has written elsewhere about voting in earlier elections.

The discourse about replacing Biden has gotten rancid. Might I suggest we all find unity in our one true love, hating cyber trucks and laughing at their owners?

Isn't it interesting that they're trying to frame themselves as initiating *that* war instead of the Civil War? Wannabe Confederates still don't like being called what they are. Probably because it reminds them they lost the first time.

Supreme Court rulings at 10am tomorrow and Friday and we’re still waiting this sleeper abortion case out of Idaho. It hasn't gotten as much attention as the abortion pill suit, but it's even more terrifying: Alliance Defending Freedom is pushing fetal personhood on behalf of a U.S. state

Look, I already work hard enough to convince my students that they really don’t need a doctor’s note. They’re adults paying huge tuition; I’ll trust that if they miss a couple classes they have good reason. (Of they miss more than a couple I may reach out to make sure everything’s okay.)

There are already enough brain-worm jokes on this thread, so I will simply say that RFK Jr. is a very unwell person and there were people who knew slavery was bad even when slavery was allowed under the Constitution. They are propaganda, not history, as Kevin notes below.
Confederate memorials were a key part of the revisionist Lost Cause campaign of the early 1900s to whitewash the role of slavery. The monuments themselves were efforts to “erase history” & anyone still defending them today is defending the lies of racists. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
RFK Jr. had a ‘visceral’ reaction to tear-downs of Confederate statueswww.washingtonpost.com Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said on a podcast that he doesn’t think “it’s a good, healthy thing for any culture to erase history.”
