100%. I've blocked for the safety of an annoying person rather than expose them to followers by replying etc. Even just leaving it in the replies of a post that goes big can start something.

The idea that being blocked is an aggressive act or "social violence" or whatever is maybe the single most ridiculous thing about social media I block all the time. Vibes are bad? One too many posts about kinks I really don't wanna see? It's literally just a curation tool for your account.
this is just my personal opinion and you may disagree with me. but i would also be cautious about ascribing too much meaning behind being blocked by someone with a lot of followers who gets a lot of replies all the time. or being blocked by anyone at all!

Asking publicly for accountability shouldn’t be considered inherently threatening. Working towards justice doesn’t have to be this merciless, hardening, damning slog. All of us fuck up. All of us deserve a chance to make amends, to do the collective work of repair.

Different political systems, sure, but even the exit polls here were pretty off this year.

Yep. My point is just that you need it on the moon whereas you don't here thanks to atmosphere and as you say, the magnetic field.

This is what always kills me. If you've got the tech to make Mars habitable, you've got the tech to fix Earth you pricks.

Lunar base is mostly underground too, iirc.

(there's a scene in For All Mankind where an unexpected solar flare has all the astronauts who are too far from base on the Moon's surface racing for caves, for that reason.)
If you're wondering what use a cave on the moon would have for humans, as far as I understand the main one is rock/regolith is a decent barrier to solar and cosmic radiation. Without the protection of an atmosphere and magnetic field like on Earth, risks to humans are much higher on the surface.
Avatar
It's surprising (or was to me, at least) how quickly radiation levels drop off as the depth of regolith protection increases. It's been floated as an idea for space stations too.

party of grifters, from top to bottom. same dudes who pump crypto and AI are now pumping Trumpism: the image of a robust, dynamic, businessman lifestyle, without producing or doing anything of actual value to anyone

Very similar opinions on being able to do what they want to do without other people disagreeing with them

Radiation!! It's bad up there

Yeah. It is very much a big deal that AI is being trained on people's work without consent.
Knowing something is possible, or even likely, is different than knowing it happened. And consent matters. YouTubers have long worried their work was being taken to train AI - but no one had proved it until we did.
Avatar
To cede that part of the argument because it's already happened is a bad idea.

Same goes for "contests." Much cheaper for a company to pay $1000 to one of a thousand contestants than to pay $5k for one commissioned artist.
Cannot emphasize enough, never do work for “exposure.” Not only is your time worth something, but if the company is making money, you should be making money, too.

Trump just named as his #2 a guy who called for insurrection charges against a journalist for writing an op-ed & wants to censor academics and seize the assets of nonprofits he opposes. The "free speech" brigades haven't said a goddamn thing. And their benefactor just pledged $150m to elect him.
