Today I read some news, but I also picked a huge bowl of green beans, watched a movie with my kids, did a bit of embroidery, and read a book. I'm committed to not getting lost in the news cycle anymore. There are ways to be informed and involved without losing yourself in the process.

Very unfun fact: Project 2025 specifically names Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area and wants to remove its protected status and open it up to mining. This is the future Donald John Trump wants.

There's nothing quite so relaxing as being by the water.

At the cabin and there's a skunk in the neighborhood. There had been 10 more but the neighbor trapped and killed them. One left. Who will find it first? The neighbor, or one of the 10 kids under 10, or our dog? 🙃 Vacation is off to an exhilarating start.

Just set my Out of Office. Going on vacation until July 15. Love that feeling! Now--time to enjoy that banana bread I've been baking tonight...

We make jokes about how dystopia is a lot more boring in reality than all the books we had to read in high school made it out to be. I think what we're forgetting is that the part we're in now - where the characters might have stopped it & didn't - is the backstory of these books, not the story.

I just re-posted two "good news" posts in a row and the Kingfisher one really got me thinking--what if instead of doom scrolling and rage-posting, we shared good news of helpful legislation and other social good? Maybe we would feel more hopeful and also more motivated.
