The irony is that both liberals and leftists are eye-wateringly bad at achieving change, liberals because they are cowards about using the power they have and leftists because they ignore organizing for power in favor of feel-good stuff like protesting.
People point to the Civil Rights Era as a time where protest achieved things but protest was only one page of a giant playbook that centered on organizing, building power, and making elected politicians bend to their will. The protests are overemphasized historically because they made good pictures.
