I just didn't want researchers to think they're completely off the hook here, though I agree it's generally due to not having enough time and resources to properly evaluate each other.

At my university, it's researchers who assess other researchers not "admin types", at least when it comes to salary review and promotions.

Aerospace researcher Sheila Widnall was born #OTD in 1938. She ran the MIT Fluid Dynamics Research laboratory, was the first chairwoman of the MIT faculty (1979), and became the first woman to head a branch of the military as Secretary of the Air Force (1993-97). 👩‍🔬 🧪 Image: MIT
