The older I get the more I realize how not just true but rational it is for people to look at politics this way. It’s just a huge waste of your time to deeply research and reach independent conclusions on every issue.

Why is it that all the plants that grow on their own with no effort and even when you try to stop them are weeds and all the plants that die even when you try to care for them are not?

The algorithms have caused so many people to optimize for engagement rather than good content that we have reached the point where so much of the content is actually bad that it's easier than ever to log off

I get optimistic about our future — us as people, not as posters — when I see all the junk engagement bait on Meta sites and Twitter. The “remember THIS?” or “let’s argue about THIS” stuff is so clearly desperate; we are learning to log off
