The Electoral College wasn’t about protecting slavery. They had already done that with the 3/5 clause. They were trying to come up with a selection method that was independent of Congress b/c they thought leaving it to Congress would result in subversion of the presidency. They also didn’t like it.

Richard Simmons and Dr. Ruth were unapologetically themselves despite endless scrutiny. They both brought joy, knowledge, and light to countless folks. It’s heartbreaking to lose them both today while the cockroach felon lives on.

GOP would have nobody in the wings to take his place. It’d be absolute chaos at the convention this week, and I can’t imagine any eventual nominee would come out of that in good shape.

I think it's perfectly acceptable for some people -- not necessarily politicians, but the rest of us -- to say something like "Trump has encouraged political violence for the better part of a decade and has been promising to do it with the government if he wins. I do not sympathize with him."

Got into an argument once about the difference between condone and sympathise. Do I condone violence? Absolutely not. No normal person does. Do I sympathise with jerks when they get a measure of comeuppance from people who finally get fed up with their shit? Absolutely not.

Because they know the cops aren’t going to arrest their friends.
