I want to be friends with your guinea pig.

It has come to my attention that to find fellow poets, I need to put more about that in my profile.

But I do want to be friends with your guinea pig.

This episode aired in 1994 and no other joke about American politics has held up that consistently for so long.

Artist Duke Riley uses discarded bottles of engine coolant, bleach and Gatorade to bend the rules of an artform that’s become illegal to practice using the customary whalebone. A piece of his recently acquired by the New Bedford Whaling Museum depicts a grim scene of industrial pollution.

Imagine the world if we’d learned from Covid. If we’d… Let long covid disability teach us to abandon the grind for slow living? Embraced WFH and reduced travel to protect the climate? Made public health proactive instead of reactive? Recognized clean air as an urgent human right? We still can.

Mrs. Dalloway playlist, as promised! Still taking recommendations of any genre. It doesn't have to be such an obvious connection. Vibes are fine, although it would be cool if you'd explain the connection when you post just for curiosity's sake. #MrsD 💐 youtube.com/playlist?lis...

I've fallen in love with this book - I realized it on day 11 - when I read, of all things, the description of Septimus's experience in Regent's Park. I'm not sure what that says about me...but here we are. I also read ahead because of "the battered woman." 💐

I'm making a Mrs. Dalloway playlist, if you'd like to contribute. I've done this with each book we've read on bluesky so far. Any song that directly ties to the book in some way OR gives you that Mrs. D vibe is welcome. All genres welcome! 💐

So why does Peter need a word alone with the "handsome" Elizabeth who "can't be more than eighteen." I'm hoping he is being annoying and trying to get info on her mother instead of pursuing the daughter as a love interest. 💐

Speaking of feeling old... I forgot the 💐 in my zeal to post.
It's difficult for me to believe Peter's perception of the world when he constantly refers to Clarissa as "wooden," "cold", and "hard." Can he be thinking of the same woman who took a rapturous stroll in London to buy flowers?

Have we talked about Woolf's use of punctuation yet? I may have missed this in the beginning. She's masterful - the descriptions and her comma usage within create a staccato within the flow of the sentences. I want to look this up but also don't want let lit crit tell me what to think! 💐

I've felt overwhelmed by this text since day one. It's humbling to feel "green" and uncertain about my understanding, but I'm realizing that's part of the learning process. I'm so grateful for this supportive community, which has made me feel less self-conscious about my struggles. 💐 (1/2)

It's not just one or two people so I'm sharing this again. Please, think of disabled people. It's Disability Awareness Month so time to think about others. There is no need to post a whole string of emojis. It doesn't make your post stand out - it just makes me less likely to read and share it.
I understand the need for emojis to flag MA posts to the appropriate feeds but there are quite a few of you just spamming them. Next time you type a whole line of emojis, read them all out loud, full name, one by one. Now imagine having to use a screen reader and coming across that mess.

Is it because I study birds and once wanted to be an ornithologist that I am so focused on all the bird imagery and description in here? It also struck me that the narration makes me feel like I am a bird, flitting from mind to mind - bird's eye view and then SWOOP into one character's mind. 💐
