I was always under the impression that there were safety standards that no automobile manufacturer could circumvent? At this point, I think the CT will kill Ralph Nader just by existing.
There are but iirc the CT is upweighted enough that a lot of them get turned off. It's not actually *required* for a class 3 truck to have anything more than seatbelts and good enough brakes to stop itself quickly. It's supposed to be a fleet utility vehicle class so it's regulated as such
Most medium-duty class 3 trucks sold to consumers have the same safety features as class 1 and 2 vehicles because it's just sensible, Ford doesn't want to get a reputation for killing their customers even if they aren't legally required not to. Cue Tesla
