I don't know. And I don't think *not* having a pet in WH is a bad thing (it's probably not great for the animal...see Commander). It's the *not wanting* a pet that's out of step with popular opinion.
Seconded. Maybe it doesn’t get publicized enough. Most Trump voters I know would tell you “never trust a man who hates dogs” but then turn around and worship this guy. I don’t get it.

She was trying to communicate that she's a tough person who is prepared to do an ugly job that others would balk at doing.
Whereas what she did was tell people she was the puppy snuffer.
