As the Convention approaches, plans change. If you can't come, did you know you can donate your membership to the Community Fund? We can make immediate use of these generous donations to help one or more people attend in person or online! (1/2)

Yay! New book coming in August! It's a loose sequel to Refractions and works better in read in sequence, but can be read as a standalone. (Reviewers, DM me for a review copy! Much appreciated!)

New ko-fi post scheduled for 15:30BST today (I'll post the link then). In the ko-fi post, I include links to *all* the parliamentary party manifestos (to "keep the bastards honest"), links to the major party conferences in September, and record my first impressions of this new government.

I was curious to see how the seats won by the largest four parties (Cons, Lab, SNP & LibDems) would compare over time. The bar chart uses data from the Commons Library for the 2010, 2015, 2017, 2019 & 2024 general elections. I've included a line showing 326, the number needed to form a government.

Apparently the trick is to write to your MP and ask them to speak to the Secretary of Education (or relevant Cabinet minister, for other concerns). Because then your MP can do the thing you asked, and the minister will pay more attention to MPs saying constituents are worried

It's great seeing people reposting the link to this consultation, and filling it in. It is for people in England and is running until 11 July: www.gov.uk/government/c.... Perhaps also consider writing to voice concerns about it to Bridget Phillipson MP, the new Secretary of State for Education.

It’s been a bit weird to see my own name spattered all over the projected 2019 results. Not the first time that I had undertaken this task, but the first time I remember getting credited so vigorously. Not that I am complaining, at all!

Okay. My constituency is neck and neck between SNP and the Liberal Democrats. They expect a declaration tomorrow.

Woke after a reasonable four hours sleep… and my constituency has yet to declare. According to the Sky News tracker, we’re down to the last two. Nailbiting.

Well. I did it. Stayed up all night to watch about 70% of the general election seats declared. Now to get some sleep.

I still remember the shock of discovering that Rees-Mog was actually a real MP and not a comedy act. Glad he's gone.

If your area got a new Labour MP then it is your duty to email them and say that you are happy the Tories are out but that transphobia should have no place in the party. Make Starmer gently walk back his support for Rowling's position!
Emailed my local Labour candidate. We're a swing seat. Let's at least let them hear from us.

We're about half way through the seat declarations now. UK general election.

Now reached just over 20% seats declared.

🎉 I'm happy! Are you happy? You'd better be happy... 😎 This season is the one in which Dr Who fights Nazis, neo-Nazis, and Nazi-adjacent enemies. No, really. Would I lie to you about how anti-fascist the greatest show in the galaxy was back when it was 25 years old and Thatcher ruled Britannia?

Reboosting this for people in England. Trans women particularly, and LGBTQIA people generally, need help to fight against erosion of our rights. This consultation started under the Tories and the results will be used by the next government.
People of England, your attention please. Reminder about the consultation closing 11 July about changes to the relationships, sex & health education statutory guidance. If you're LGBTQIA, or an ally, please check it out & complete with a view to protecting LGBTQIA people. www.gov.uk/government/c...
