Recommendation. One of the most beautiful book covers I have ever seen and a novel to match. Wonderful, elegant and readble prose. Memorable characters. Utterly engaging, funny and gripping. Easily my favourite book of 2023.

Me, same, this is my wish as well
"Witch King", Martha Wells And also. Please. PLEASE can we give Strange Horizons a Hugo for all the wonderful authors and stories they have made a home for, and the many many years of work they've done to build that? That is the #1 award-season wish for me this year. p l e a s e ! 5/5

TIL the reason half the original Power Rangers left was the show was NON UNION & paid them almost nothing even after raging success (!!!) They asked for unionization & better contracts & the show refused Mega popular, $1B in merch & they wouldn't even give the actors union *minimum* pay. Appalling

HOLY BALLS, Y'ALL. You need to read this. The in-depth read into Li Li that I never knew I wanted! (you really don't need to have read the book for this story, although I highly recommend it!)
I took one of the 2 scenes in THE WATER OUTLAWS nobody wanted and said "why don't I write another 10,000 words on this" 😆 read it nowwwww (you don't need to have read the book!)

oh hey just realized it's also the same translator who translated Yang Wanqing's excluded novelette last year 👀 (Jay Zhang) hoping to have time to read this today....
INTERESTING! Thank you! So this novelette by Yang Wanqing (one of the excluded Chinese authors) is indeed Hugo-eligible both this year AND next year: clarkesworldmagazine.com/yang_02_24/ for anyone who finds that information relevant :)

a little late with the promo but I have an essay in this month's Uncanny, which came about when I was procrastinating on working on my novel, the message I am taking away from this is to procrastinate as much as possible, anyway check it out if you like musings about fictional languages!
