Trader Joe’s United said it’s *not* calling for a customer boycott at this time in response to the company arguing the NLRB is unconstitutional. But they *are* asking people to sign a customer strike pledge if they call for a boycott in the future.

This is supremely fucked. *And* I’m going to wait to see what the unionized workers of Trader Joe’s United call for customers to do in response. Like @taliajane.bsky.social said on the hellsite, collective action is better for workers than slowly declining sales they could use to lay people off
LOL The stores got an email from corporate today disavowing any connection to SpaceX’s arguments. I’m guessing more than a few customers have shared their concerns.
Thank you for posting this. I went to the TJU website this morning trying to find out. A boycott is only effective if the store knows *why* folks aren't shopping there, and that requires an *organized* boycott.
Even if they don’t, the company’s position is so nationally disastrous, I’ll be boycotting anyway. It goes far beyond their employees, and so we should consider more than just their preferences.
It’s a choice to go against organized labor, but if you’re gonna do that, it seems like you should at least contact the company to express the reason why so they don’t think they’re losing customers bc of, say, inflation
This. While I respect and want to honor the union's wishes as stakeholders, I cannot ethically spend my money there if the company is pursuing this course of action.
Yeah. With respect to this union, the stakes are way bigger than them, unfortunately.
This is an attack on nearly all workers in the United States, and it is happening right now. I can't justify shopping there again. Can't un-ring this particular anti-labor bell.
99% of the time I will respect another union's wishes but there is no way in hell I'm gonna let any amount of my money get funneled into arguing against the NLRB's right to exist.

Counterpoint: Signing Action Network petitions will result in your getting added to countless e-mail lists that you may not want to receive fundraising solicitations from, which you'll have to spend a significant chunk of your life unsubscribing from if you don't.
Action Network is malware.
Signed and donated. TJ's is the only place that's affordable here without sacrificing too much quality. But knowing their execs are all in on Musk's stupidity is just horrible. These companies will stop at nothing to ruin us and I dunno what to do anymore.
welp, we ain't got one in our town b/c it doesn't fit the algorithm and our hipster students hate that (we don't fit algorithms b/c we're huge U, a few hospitals & stuff, with *nothing else for miles.* Zipcar and the cities made a deal and they discerned yea, we have plenty of that kind of peeps
I'm dismayed that anyone thought Trader Joe's was ever "progressive" (which is a meaningless distinction btw). TJs is a multi-multi-billion dollar company that abuses its' employees and actively has put them in harm's way for decades. My middle and lower back, elbow, and wrists are proof of that.
Can a deal not be worked out that sees the Confederates get Florida & Texas and maybe Alabama, & the Union keep the rest of the country? It's increasingly looking like that's the only way to save a powerful & democratic USA.
