As some of you know, we lost Sophie last week to a horrific rattlesnake bite incident. Her sister (and littermate) Annie and I are now learning to run without her. It's very hard. It seems a little easier for Annie, for which I am grateful. Love 'em while you got 'em, folks. Life is very fragile.

This very brave girl has spent the last 24 hours in the ER being treated for THREE rattlesnake bites. She has had four doses of antivenin and one plasma transfusion. She's doing a little better after the plasma. Fingers crossed we can bring her home tomorrow.

Hah, I found some of my dad's old observing log books, thought, "Hey, those would be fun to write in!" went looking for 5 ½ x 8½" paper (COLLEGE RULED) and immediately fell down a rabbit hole of colored pockets, indexing dividers, and associated bling. I think this ride has left the platform.

Trump couldn't find the word "restaurant" today. He was talking about McDonald's and flailingly called it a "store... where people are eating." UT's Dean of Students is hiring a "Coordinator of Demonstration and Emergency Response" for $58K. They will "Participate in campus demonstration response" and "exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding student problems, parental and faculty concerns." Just try to imagine the applicants.
