Pokemon Go verdict: I'm having fun! There's a lovely trail system a bit behind my house and I think I'll map out a bunch of pieces of it as "routes" since it looks like people mostly haven't done that. I caught lots of Pokemons, put a couple in gyms, did a raid, hatched some eggs, very pleasant!
In an effort to "be slightly more active" and "leave the house" I have redownloaded Pokemon Go Are any friends still playing?

The MASN commentators are so great, it feels like sitting at the game with a couple of guys who happen to know a ton about baseball (I'm watching the last few innings of the disaster from yesterday and despite it all, I've been enjoying the commentary at least)

This is also part of how the actual differences between parties are hidden/undermined. If the federal gov actually passes policies/funding to feed your family and your GOP governor refuses it on your behalf, you're not getting it. Who did what can feel pretty irrelevant. Your kids are still hungry.
The governors of a dozen Republican-led states — AL, AK, FL, GA, IA, MS, OK, SC, SD, TX, UT, WY — opted out of a new federal food assistance program, leaving about 9.5 million students without the aid this summer

But the idea behind this—that the robot can convey information—fundamentally misunderstands what is being taught in those core classes. You’re teaching people how to do problems: how to check your work, how to solve problem sets, how to generalize solving problem sets to other problems…

One more amazing thing for a Saturday morning starting a week of vacation: Did you know that if you have MLB.tv, you can just sit and eat breakfast while watching recent condensed games where the Yankees lose?

You can’t even say Akin is a good clubhouse guy. He’s a shitty person with the vibes of a rain soaked pouch of Red Man. There’s zero reason to keep this racist right wing fuck on the team. You think it’s a coincidence his number’s 45?

EdTech is where higher education institutes, government bodies & tech corps are pushing AI so hard yet with no evidence of the benefits (plenty of evidence against it). this report is another evidence that should caution all pushing AI into education to just STOP and evaluate the evidence

There are MUCH more important implications for the overturning of the Chevron doctrine. But in my aviation world it's gonna be nuts. You have any idea how many hair brained homebuilt aircraft/spacecraft the FAA is keeping grounded? Cuz you're about to find out.

On field interviews are a plague. I adore Gunnar, but he needs to be playing baseball, why not interview him when he's sitting in the dugout (if you have to do this at all)

🧵 I’m sorry to do this to you, but there’s a Part 2. I waited to share this part because I worried most of you'd not be able to handle all of this at once. But you’ve had a week to recover, so let’s dive into how Apple execs are giving themselves bonuses as a reward for illegal dumping! ⬇️
🧵 In 2020, I nearly died from mysterious industrial chemical exposure at my apartment. Later, I discovered my employer was dumping toxic waste into our windows from their Skunkworks semiconductor fab next-door. I tipped off US EPA, who then raided them in 2023. EPA sent me the report on Friday. 💀 ⬇️

The thing that gets me about these polls is that everyone not named Joe Biden (and maybe Kamala Harris) might as well be "generic Democrat" for most people in this country
Couple things. First, the Democratic nominee for POTUS is going to be the current POTUS. Joe Biden. If it isn't Joe Biden, then it will be the current VP, Kamala Harris. And the thing is, the clown discussion of other names? They're really not stronger...

I recall a DM friend explaining to me why every big bad wore the same accessory. A 1st level party in one of his first campaigns met at a tavern, fought some bad guys, & ended the first session on a cliff overlooking the town. The big bad teleported in front of them and started monologuing.
