Thinking the same about my MacBook Air M1. It takes anything I throw at it (heavy on audio processing/DAW) and performs perfectly.

It’s good advice. I feel sometimes like I’m in love with the process-getting everything routed and ready to record without having to do too much fiddling around. I tend to get stuck in the typical “8 bar loop” rut, though.

I have too much stuff, actually-too many choices. I've been focusing around a handful of Roland Boutiques, a Deepmind 12D, Korg MS2000, all running into Ableton live. I also have an ISLA s2400 to mess around with, as well as an OP-1 field. I'm pretty much all over the place.

Yeah - I think I'm starting to see a lot of good reasons to have more dedicated devices to keep things focused and in-the-box. It forces you to get creative. Plus, the "tracker" paradigm, where each step can be blanketed with 2 of number of "Effects," is a good alternative to a horizontal timeline

It's a very different paradigm than most groove boxes, being a tracker. I'm still on the fence about the price I'd paid vs. just continuing to use AUM on the iPad with a huge library of audio unit extensions, but it's too easy to get distracted on the iPad.
