Also the 12th anniversary of the time I had to accompany tefl summer school students on a trip to London and it was *hell* (like... extremely rich students with no interest in anything except shopping, one of whom lost a £50 note in a Rolex shop and just shrugged and wandered off)

Happy 11th anniversary of the day a woman berated me at work because the garden centre I worked in was not providing Wimbledon coverage and cream teas in the rose area of the shop. *facepalm*

If your area got a new Labour MP then it is your duty to email them and say that you are happy the Tories are out but that transphobia should have no place in the party. Make Starmer gently walk back his support for Rowling's position!

Emailed my local Labour candidate. We're a swing seat. Let's at least let them hear from us.

So to confirm, now we have near-final numbers: Every time 19 Tory MPs get a bit grumpy this parliament and stick their letters into the 1922 Committee... ...it'll automatically trigger a leadership contest.

Worth remembering, for the next five years, that the Tory party rules ASSUME they'll have a large number of sitting MPs. e.g. to automatically start a leadership context only 15% of tory MPs have to put in letters. 15% of 130ish seats is... not a lot.

Something that's important to do now is WRITE TO YOUR MP. Particularly if they are new. Not a form letter or autogenerated one. An actual personal one. Not frothy. Just firm and clear. Ask them their views. When they respond, tell them how it aligns (or doesn't) to KEEP your vote.

...oh yeah this is why I don't watch the news on TV especially about politics.... I end up screaming at the TV and the fucking idiots being interviewed...

I don't want to see former Tory MPs on Strictly, in the Jungle, playing Traitors, hosting panel shows, or making travelogues or documentaries. I never want to see their smug, shiny faces again. I want them all to fuck permanently off.

A total of four seats for the Greens, up from one, and Lib Dems up a massive 61 from 8. There's a story there, and the story is there are people who are left-leaning, but cannot vote for labour with a clear conscience. (Climate change ignored and anti-trans rhetoric.)
