I can't speak for anyone else, but *I* was not meant to consume this much information on a daily basis.

I loathe "I Can See Clearly Now," and it tends to show up in TV/movies whenever a character is happy, refreshed, etc. I literally just put together that the lyrics are about getting rid of the rain and dark clouds to usher in a bright, sunshiny day. No wonder I hate it. 😂
Name a song you secretly hate but never say so because everyone else seems to love it.

I just took the dog for a walk and ran into one of our crow friends. I said, "Sorry, buddy, I didn't bring any treats," then reached into my pocket to show him it was empty...and found a hazelnut I'd put in there last time I wore the pants. 😆 I am such a Crow Lady.

I have seen the Gladiator II trailer, and I'm actively angry about it. I know the original wasn't Citizen Kane, but it was a good movie, and now Ridley Scott is apparently just shitting all over his own movie? WHAT THE FUCK.

I am, perhaps, too emotionally invested in The Bear.

I love that Coco Gauff is apparently sponsored by Barilla pasta. If I were in #Wimbledon, I'd want to be sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts.

The mostly deaf dog slept thru the nearby professional fireworks show from 10:15-10:45. But now she's up and terrified at 1:30 in the goddamn morning bc it turns out she can still hear fireworks when they're going off on the next block. Fucking assholes.

I genuinely hope everyone setting off fireworks blows off a finger tonight.

At the time, I knew our friendship was unconventional, but I didn't realize just how vulnerable I was. I don't know whether to think I got lucky or whether so many other women are unlucky. /fin
He treated me like a niece or daughter at a time when I was becoming estranged from my own father. It was really eye-opening for me to experience what a kindly, supportive, friendly father/daughter relationship might look like.

He gave me his mother's (lovely) wedding china when he eventually moved away. And he never, ever hit on me.

He was about 60 and straight (had been married, still dated women). We met at the apartment complex pool and used to hang out there, occasionally grabbed lunch or dinner together, even went to a few movies. We talked about music, politics, our respective crazy families.

The news about a certain older author perving on a much younger employee reminded me of a *non-creepy* relationship I had in my early twenties. I was living alone in my first apartment/job out of college and became friends with an older male neighbor.

many people are saying that the NYT’s disastrous performance at writing editorials that seem lazy and out of touch reflect a newspaper not up to the challenges of its rigorous job

I still have a pair of Calvin Klein pajama pants that my mom bought at T.J. Maxx in the summer of 2000. (Don't ask me why I remember that; I just do.) They finally fell apart, after 24 years. That'll do, PJs. That'll do.

I don't know if Biden should resign or drop out now. (I never wanted him to be the nominee in 2020.) But I know I'm utterly terrified at the thought of watching this man and his campaign sleepwalk into November.
Biden and aides concede he needs to quickly demonstrate his fitness for officewapo.st Critics have been shaken by his relative inaction to directly address the panic ignited by his halting debate performance last Thursday.

I've seen some posts by people who are angry that no one is calling on Trump to drop out due to age, senility, felony convictions, etc. And I'm just gobsmacked by these posts, because there's no POINT in urging Trump and his supporters to be reasonable. That ship sailed years ago. Let that dream go.

Reminder from a Pittsburgher who was at one point Mr. Rogers neighbor: “Look for the helpers” was intended to be advice for his usual audience, children. We’re grown ups now. We’re supposed to be the helpers.

that's the whole idea, yes people lose their jobs, their health care, and their homes, and then, once they get arrested for sleeping rough or nonpayment of tickets, they become slave labor for prison jobs.
Like where are they even gonna get the money to pay the fine from? They might as well just bring back debtor’s prisons for how they treat the poor!

I promise you that the Democratic Party as a whole is not playing 4d chess, or even just regular chess
You absolutely can in an emergency and this is an emergency. You telling me that nobody made a backup plan to run Kamala Harris? Nobody??

It's esp. frustrating given we have more solutions for extreme cold than heat! Not that people don't die in the cold, obviously. But you can only take *off* so many clothes, and sweating doesn't help in high humidity. But hey, why let a little thing like basic science interrupt our morality plays?
There absolutely is this pervasive global idea that Air Conditioning Is The Sworn Enemy of Being Green (in a way that we don’t tend to think about heating), and this is dangerous and bad. Providing cooling that uses less energy is great, but forcing people to go without entirely? Not so much.

On hold w/ my company's national HR service line. There's terrible elevator music, of course—but the "best" part is the music is on a THIRTY-SECOND LOOP. It cuts off in the middle of a bar and starts over. Are they literally just looping a free 30-second sample?! JFC.

I found a post somewhere that said 13/4, but it's not that simple. It's interspersed with random measures of 7/4 or something, I don't even know what. 🥴
I have listened to this song hundreds of times, and I've been reading/playing music for almost 40 years, and I still cannot grasp the time signature for the middle part of this song. Every time I think I have it, I lose it. (But I love it.)
