Romance authors been inventing ebook marketing techniques since forever. Most popular, lucrative genre fiction there is. Home to some of the most incisive writers around. But some of y’all just gonna fuck around and find out, huh?
Can not believe I saw a person on this site try to explain the strategy of making a first book in a series free as if he'd had a revolutionary thought. I understand it's impossible for shitheads to respect romance authors, but I did this for the first time BEFORE MOST OF YOU KNEW WHAT EBOOKS WERE.

Over at the Bad Place, I made a tradition of posting Douglass' "What, To The Slave, Is The Fourth of July," and I intend to carry on that tradition here. Since most versions you read in classes or in textbooks have parts omitted, the link below has the full text of the speech.
(1852) Frederick Douglass, "What, To The Slave, Is The Fourth Of July" •www.blackpast.org On July 5, 1852, Frederick Douglass was invited to address the citizens of his hometown, Rochester, New York. Whatever the expectations of his audience on that 76th anniversary of the signing of the D...

Instead, they stealth-edited the title.
Man, if it turns out that the right winger telling NY Times readers that they should follow his example and not vote did in fact vote in the last two elections, the Times should add this to the piece. Better than a retraction, since it illustrates a willful hypocrisy.

My whole life people have said “I’m not voting because I can’t trust either one of them.” And they go about their lives while their rights are stripped away right under their nose. Don’t want to vote? Fine. What ARE you going to do? Because this democracy thing? It’s our job to keep it.

Hey @nytimes.com, as a subscriber, can I ask, and I mean this as respectfully as I can… What the hell was the editorial board of thinking by publishing a piece exhorting the virtues of not voting authored by a right-wing operative who does, in fact, vote and releasing it today, of ALL days.

In the midst of the discourse about NG and the SA allegations, seeing plenty of folks ride up and say variations of “well I can’t say I’m surprised because he was weird/a jerk to me/etc Folks never miss a chance to be petty do they? Yes, let’s decenter the victims and talk about you instead 🙄

This is the explicit goal of an astonishing amount of paid (and paid for!) propaganda out there. If you're feeling voting doesn't matter, maybe consider why it is so many people are spending so much money, time, effort and ad space trying to convince you not to.

The NG news ended up being the first thing I read about today, and I’ve been shattered ever since. For the victims, who are already being bullied, doubted, slandered, and threatened. And for 13-year old me that read Death The High Cost of Living and loved his work for 31 years since. 🧵

It’s July 4th, 2024. The UK holds a general election today that most expect will result in a peaceful transfer of power through democratic action. Meanwhile the United States, the oldest modern democracy, just this week gave the office of President powers to act like a monarch.

Sociopathic fascist Tom Cotton wants to murder protestors so bad he can taste it. To "teach" them a lesson. The reality. 67 shots fired. A parking lot full of unarmed students, most walking to class, not protesting. 4 murdered, 9 shot & wounded, 5 of them critically. Most were shot in the back.
