It's still my birthday so I'm going to ask you to do me a favour, okay? Stop right now & take 5 deep breaths, as deep as you can, pressing your held breaths down into your diaphragm before releasing. Do it like this: Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, out for 4 seconds. Got it? Five times

like I literally DIED last time I got pregnant, my heart stopped, I was resuscitated now imagine that but with hours long treatment delays because the hospital is trying to decide if they’ll get in trouble for saving my life
an emergency D&C saved my life 2 years ago, mere weeks before Roe was overturned, and if Project 2025 happens, next time I will simply bleed to death while the hospital lawyers decide whether or not they can legally save my life

In 1974, Antony Hewish received the Nobel for his "decisive role in the discovery of pulsars." He was very deserving, obviously! But so was Jocelyn Bell Burnell, and she was left off. A grad student won the previous year, so awarding a student wasn’t the issue.

People don't hate tech, people hate tech grifters, everything being a subscription model, LLMs that do nothing but eat resources and other people's work and spit out garbage, and endless privacy-invading spyware. People love remote working, remote learning, and talking to their pocket friends.
"people hate tech bc moderation is really hard u just don't understand!" no people hate tech because it's led by capitalist ghouls who make everything worse for everyone else so they can have six yachts instead of only five hope this helps!

this is the sort of question that gets asked when you are unaware of the administration 's track record on labour issues and how corporate unfriendly its been and which parts of the party are all about Biden(the CBC & left wing) and who is vocally opposed( the insider trading gang). Answer is yes
Are you seriously claiming Biden is the peoples candidate and the opposition to him (being the 2024 nominee) is primarily from the rich Democratic Party donors?

Still marveling at Gorsuch's Ohio v. EPA opinion, in which he confused nitrogen oxide (a pollutant) with nitrous oxide (laughing gas). He did this five times, never once getting it right—in an opinion overruling the EPA's own expert scientific analysis! s3.documentcloud.org/documents/24...

For reasons I do not understand, most of the mainstream press reported that Trump “softened” the gop position on abortion based on a platform that declares abortion should be illegal in all 50 states www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
Stop Soft-Pedaling the GOP’s Extreme Positionswww.theatlantic.com The party’s platform on abortion and LGBTQ rights is just as radical as ever.

I have been working on a story about carbon capture for like three months because I keep thinking "it cannot possibly be THIS much of an absolute shit show" and figuring I must be missing something or misunderstanding something and then every new expert I talk to tells me it's even worse

I call my son my brother's name ALL THE TIME. I am 45. I do not, as far as I know, have cognitive issues. I mix up my son+ husband's name 5x a day (they are so, so much alike). I regularly stumble when I lecture and I am an excellent+ professionally trained public speaker. Y'all are ableist AF.

He does it all the time. He just wants to be close to me. (Don't worry he always achieves lap as soon as I'm free.)
Whenever I'm busy for a second and he can't sit on my lap he always finds a workaround. He will do this until my lap is available. He has fallen asleep like this LOL

Yes these are emergencies. But they are the kind you need to slow down for. If you can. Where you can. When you can. May we gum up the works of destruction by slowing down to the speed of regeneration.

And arguably what I am enjoying most is that this is not the hero theory of history. We’re not seeing a charismatic leader carry the election through rhetoric and force of personality. We’re seeing populations say: nope. I like the power of nope.
