i've always loved the Terry Pratchett Boots Theory of socioeconomics but it's really striking now how it's slowly becoming inaccurate bc so many companies straight up do not make good products anymore. not even rich people can buy things that aren't designed to break in 3 years bc they don't exist

I cannot emphasize enough - we have a global pathway to net zero. That pathway burns to cinders the moment we accept powering “AI” as an acceptable use of energy. Climate action is wholly incompatible with expansion of “AI”

this works because, at surface level, LLMs can actually pass the Turing test - the one thing they are incredible at (predictive language) matches it perfectly, and the Turing test has been the popular conception of "AI" which speaks more of the flaws of the Turing test than anything else
