If your idea of activism is hounding people off a marginal platform for the crime of being employed by the New York Times, you have become both hilariously detatched from reality and a serious liability to whatever cause you delude yourself you’re serving.

In Dec. 2023 Tesla CEO Elon Musk ordered Nvidia to divert a shipment of 12,000 of their very much in-demand AI chips which had reserved for the EV maker over to X Corp. and xAI first, leaving Tesla to get a shipment of chips months later. My latest @cnbc www.cnbc.com/2024/06/04/e...

I am aware, of course, that for many this will be a matter of plain disguised prejudice, but those people aside, are folks really thinking that the only Israeli nation that is allowed to participate in the world is one that excludes anyone who didn't avoid the draft?

I spent three months flipping burgers at a third-class, fast food joint when I was 18 years old. What it taught me was how far basic things like showing up on time, doing what you're told and paying attention will get you and just how many people don't have those things in their toolkit.
People that post this shit should absolutely have to work food service. It's one of the few jobs where your past doesn't matter (I got a dishwasher job after my drug arrest, no one else would hire me) and you learn to be part of a team navigating chaos. Also. 'Empathy or whatever'? Ew.

This. And 1,001 people who will otherwise agree that *anyone* can be racist or do racist things, even good people, will insist that actually it's impossible for anything these folks do or say or want to be antisemitic
Let me tell you something: if you're demanding that Hillel be fully removed from UC Santa Cruz, you're an antisemite. Hillel is a cultural lifeline for Jewish students. If you want it gone - that means you want Jews gone. There's no negotiating on the antisemitic nature of this demand.

one thing that's really noticeable is that the old Onion directly parodied *the style of newspapers* whereas the recent stuff is written by people who might have read other Onion articles, but don't seem to have ever read the thing the Onion was parodying.

This place was fun for a while, but now it's just getting aggressively stupider every passing day.

I love everything about this photo of Joey Ramone c. 1985, from the correctly punctuated hand-lettered sign with equalized pricing for the three genders, to the photo of Aretha Franklin on the cover of Long Island Pulse Magazine and Grace Jones in the ad on the back.

You want to protest Israel’s war on Gaza? Protest outside the embassy, or the consulates, or even AIPAC. Leave Jewish American organizations alone. Bc what this👇says is that all Jews are guilty of Israel’s behavior bc they are Jews. It’s like those idiots who harassed Muslim Americans after 9/11.

You might have heard of the Negro Motorist Green Book, the guide for African Americans vacationing in the USA, showing them places where they would be safe. Well, Jews in the USA needed similar information, and shared it in guides like this. We used to know that we shared the same struggle.

Not enough of this in the world.
I begrudgingly must admit that you make excellent points here. However, I have a visceral response to this suppression of information and find it difficult to see as anything but a power flex against one of the few ways to keep tech in check. I'm going to grumpily go away for a while and see if I

Again and again, the city’s watchdog agency files 311 reports itself, watches NYPD disregard the offenses, conducts damning interviews with the officers involved about their corrupt practices, sometimes eliciting admissions of felonies… and then nothing happens. www.nyc.gov/assets/doi/p...
"For instance, the DOI caught multiple police officers falsifying reports to close out valid 311 complaints that they never even responded to. This is a flat out felony — and, more broadly, should be a red flag that other police duties might be getting neglected and other statements falsified."
Op-Ed: Police Placard Corruption Report Was Weak, Disappointing ... and Completely Expected - Streetsblog New York Citynyc.streetsblog.org The Department of Investigations clearly had ample evidence of crimes and serious violations, yet its report lets everyone off the hook.

I have a piece in The Atlantic this morning. It's about the frustration of learning that a court has cited your work, but for very bad reasons. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
