I have an email address that I currently only use for two streaming services, and one of them apparently sold it to Nextdoor. I got an email at that address letting me know that my "neighbor" had invited me to the app 🙄 None of my neighbors know that email address!

I'm assuming this means 10 times *per week* for the last 5 years, because that is accurate. My mother still calls me by my brother's name all the time.

Would love to see an honest guess from young parents on how many times they’ve called their kids by the wrong name in the last 5 years. I’d be shocked if it’s less than 10.

I understand there are at least two near me in Salt Lake City based on social media, but I have yet to see one in the wild. One is the asshole who yelled at the cyclists, the other is the guy who is Too Divorced to Cybertruck.

We used to say "house poor", now it's more like "housing trapped." I couldn't afford to buy my own house if it were on the market today, despite my earning ~50% more now than I did when we bought the house. Not to mention moving somewhere else. Huge effect on job mobility.

I literally cannot move to an equivalently nice place in literally any major metro in the US without physically moving there and living like a peasant for multiple years so I can catch up the COLA adjustment for wages, and every study of doing so suggests strongly that its a step down on QoL

I think we need a pro-kids lobby, but that lobby is for things like public education, free meals in schools, childcare, and opposition to exploitation and abuse of children. What's happening to child labor laws is an outrage. People need to make their own decisions about having them.

Texas "Department of Public Safety" is really becoming quite the Orwellian name.

Lots of shouting and shoving at UT Austin as Texas state troopers try to subdue a pro-Palestinian protest. DPS confirms at least 4 arrests so far.

One skill I've definitely lost practice in since the pandemic began is controlling my facial reactions. With a mask on I don't have to worry how someone will take it when I grimace at their foolishness.

This is for sure a good thing, good riddance to her. But remember, she's been spewing vitriol for years. What finally crossed the line was that she accused a cis girl of being trans. We need to do more in Utah to defend our vulnerable LGBTQ+ citizens.
