I really have lost my former tolerance for "we're doomed/fucked/it's all over/they've won" takes at this point, in that they're the most dangerous attitudes one could possibly have when confronted with a truly existential political threat (which we still DO have levers to address).
Honestly these people are worse than useless at this point. Despair all you want in private, but intentionally spewing your cynicism and apathy in order to drag others down is the least helpful thing you could do when people’s lives are literally being destroyed as we speak
If you’re one of those people that have defended this by saying, “this is my release valve” or “people can unfollow if they don’t like it” - no. You don’t get to parachute into people’s mentions to spread your despair like some social media Dementor
Well Actually, guillotines are highly engineered and persnickety devices requiring specialized labor to both transport and operate them, rendering them an impractical tool that reifies labor inequalities in the field of revolutionary executions
They also got turned on the revolutionaries almost immediately after killing only a handful of wealthy elites. The Paris Commune burned the guillotine for a reason.
I can't stop thinking about the guillotine I saw upcountry in remote New Caledonia at the museum in Bourail because it took a hell of a lot of effort to ship that guillotine all the way to the South Pacific in order to execute prisoners: nz.newcaledonia.travel/offers/boura...
porque no los dos?
after all, the trebuchet would be great for those doomsday bunkers the rich are apparently building, while the guillotine would be great for the ones that don't run fast enough. :3
I fantasize about a guillotine-as-warning service to place on the lawns of corporate headquarter, the Supreme Court, etc for a cheese and cracker party for the public
