Saru wakes me up in the morning to start her routine. She walks up the center of the bed, getting petted, then heads back toward the foot (still getting petted). She’ll loop this 3-4 times before slamming herself down next to me and wanting me to pet her belly like this.
She also wants me to occasionally put my fingers out toward her head so she can rub her face on them.
She will stay there anywhere between 30 seconds to 10 minutes, and then suddenly decide she needs to get up. She’ll walk away and then restart the whole process. Repeat 1-5 times or so.
Yeah, our cat Sammy loved him some tummy rubs. To the point that when you stopped, he would get up, run ahead, and flop in your path. "You're not done yet, human!"
So did our beloved late Henry Wowler. Let me bury my face in his tum and blow raspberries through his fur, and lie with a hind leg cocked over my arm to trap my hand on it. Sigh. Still miss him terribly.🥹
My suspicion is that while there may be statistically relevant differences on average at the population level, boy and girl cat behavior overlap so much that it's more an issue of individual cat than of cat sex.
This is one of the many reasons for why I love cats so much. Each one truly is so unique and different to all the rest, just like people (and of course many are also similar in other ways), so it's always so neat to see the differences from cat to cat.
Yeah both my kittens seem happy for belly pats if they invite me. Fiery a bit more than Buki. If Buki is in a playful mood it is a trap. In bed he loves it.
Mine loves belly rubs but ONLY when I’m working at my desk, particularly if I’m in a video call. Otherwise she wouldn’t be interrupting me & what would be the fun in that?
Somehow this information is not shocking to me. She just _looks_ like she would allow it and enjoy it.
All three of my current girls allow for belly rubbings. (With somewhat differing levels of enthusiasm. XD)
My late cat Lucy was 50/50 on tummy rubs. She liked them when she was sitting or standing, but the classic tummy trap pose was a tummy trap (she had a number of issues relating to trust stemming from a kitten hood being bullied by other cats so had some interesting quirks)
