I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:
if you’re waiting for everyone around you to wake up, you’ll wait forever. this is how the people grinding our bones to make their bread WANT you to be. paralyzed, alienated & purposeless

Obvs these guys will govern again like ghouls no matter what branding they adopt—but I do think it’s fascinating that they are at least acting like Project 2025 is something to run away from
"I don't know anything about Project 2025" says man recording Project 2025 promotional video in front of Project 2025 publication. More substantively, Project 2025 has embraced Trump and Miller's immigration approach of using power to close both legal and illegal immigration.

A hill I will die on: all white-collar crimes are violent crimes. It's just that the violence is removed from the perpetrator because the perpetrator is wealthy.
Holy. Shit. They're literally saying Trump's felonies aren't that bad compared to the "real felonies". Bear in mind, they're ignoring J6 and "gimme 12000 votes" call and the stolen docs. We joke, but this is literally Newsmax copy.

Seriously. Fashion trends are for silly people. If you like the current trend by all means stock up while it’s easy to get, but chill out about the trend-following shit. Fast fashion is destroying the planet. Wear your clothes until they wear out if you can’t fit in them anymore.
Some Millennials in my timeline are insecure because Gen Zs are telling them their ankle socks age them. I can't stress enough that you don't need to care about what a bunch of 20-somethings think about your clothes, mainly bc you don't have to care about what ANYONE thinks about your clothes.

Hey, remember how librarians and I were warning everyone that mass book-banning is just step one of a fascist government takeover? Well, some of the same book-banning orgs we warned you about are on the advisory board for Project 2025, whose leader calls it a "second American Revolution.”

if the media could go ahead and treat this claim the way they treat Biden saying "I'm fine" - aka, as a lie that requires days on end of front page stories to debunk - that would be great we'll be over here waiting
Trump is trying to get ahead of the reality that he and the heritage foundation are working to destroy America and institute a fascist dictatorship. He is lying and expecting the media to gaslight America for him.

We need more, but credit where due: both The Nation (June 2024 issue) and Boston Review have run a breakdown of the Project 2025 “Mandate for Leadership” document. Media Matters, too. Lots of good work going on digesting this. www.bostonreview.net/articles/ins... www.mediamatters.org/project-2025
Where are the columnists who are experts in specific fields, breaking down what the Heritage Foundation + Trump want to do to each individual federal agency? E.g. I read the section dedicated to our intelligence agencies, and had to stop, since I was starting to feel a little nauseous.

Remember: Texas is not a red state. Texas is a massively voter-suppressed state, with a lot of people working very hard and very thanklessly to fix that.

Like two-thirds of the sentences in any given Trump rally literally do not make sense
Now everyone--The Times and, sorry to say, MSNBC--is noting every missed syllable. The man has a stutter. I don't stutter but I am a mushmouth who speaks too fast and slurs words. I've had to overcome fear of public speaking. I have empathy for Biden. The press has empathy for no one (but Trump).

Google’s emissions are up 48% in 5 years. Microsoft’s are up 30% since 2020. Those soaring figures are being driven by mass investments in data centers to power AI tools. Generative AI is a climate disaster and data center expansion must be stopped.

The thing I keep coming back to on this post is “bloodless if the left allows it to be.” He’s not saying “bloodless if the left doesn’t fire the first shot.” He’s saying “bloodless unless the left wins.” He’s advocating for violence if he doesn’t like the outcome of the election.
That Heritage Foundation statement threatening a violent revolution against the left = that moment in a movie in which the forces of evil loudly announce their evil plans. except in real life, unlike in a movie, most normal people don’t even realize this has *happened* (which is our job).

Wild, that some people that look at Project 2025 and dismiss it, when 23,000 people in Texas had to birth their rapist’s baby last year, a parent has to sign an affidavit each time their child goes to the library in Idaho, and there’s an open war on Trans people. Folks in red states are living it.

Any outlet that doesn’t cover this story is making a choice to ignore it, and we should be asking why.
I saw this was trending and had to google it "The post alleges that Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for this year's presidential election, "forced" young girls to "perform lesbian sex acts."
Donald Trump, Katie Johnson allegations: Everything we knowwww.newsweek.com Allegations from a lawsuit that was dismissed in 2016 are circulating on social media.

So uh... anybody with a bigger megaphone than me want to help a butch out? The Gilbert Baker Foundation & CMG are asking a settlement from us for referring to the Gilbert Baker flag/original color scheme as the "Gilbert Baker flag" of twice what we've ever made from anything with those colors.
Who has two thumbs and got a legal threat from the lawyers for the Gilbert Baker foundation because he gave credit to Gilbert Baker as the creator of the original Pride flag on items that use that colorway? YEP!

I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

So hey, here's a thing I don't think a lot of folks know: That whole "Patient Zero" thing? The French-Canadian airhost who supposedly spread HIV all over America? That's not real. That's not what happened or how it happened.

Debatable if they actually ban transition care on the federal level and I am forcibly detransitioned, which is one of many nightmare scenarios
You're going to outlive Donald Trump and Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito which means you'll get to celebrate their death and piss on their graves if you want

I finally wrote an essay about the rise of the far-right in Germany, for DIE ZEIT. It’s called “The Hatred Is Accelerating” and you can read it in English here: www.zeit.de/kultur/2023-... and in German here: www.zeit.de/kultur/2023-... - if of interest, please share.

i drop this when folks are clicking to read a performatively bad take by a fascist in the new york times. 1—that’ll make it the best performing piece of the day 2—guy writes for national review—the mag william f buckley founded 3—i know you like wordle, but the nyt has always been like this
in 1986—peak AIDS crisis; only 6 months after reagan admitted AIDS was real—the NYT ran a william f buckley op-ed calling for all HIV+ people to be tattooed on the arm & the ass for the greater good anyone giving the NYT the benefit of the doubt about trans coverage: this is who they’ve always been

It is time to stop paying the New York Times a dime. Yes, that includes Wordle and the recipes. Sorry.
The New York Times ratfucking operation in favor of Trump is so incredibly blatant that it’s beyond parody. If you saw ratfucking like this coming from a newspaper in a movie, you’d probably think it was a bit over the top.

It also sets up this weird dichotomy in which marginalized == moral, which… what.
honestly hate that every time there's an industry bad actor, lists of "works by marginalized authors to support instead" start circulating like it's a moral obligation to be done out of guilt, & it's crickets every other day of the year. my art is not to be taken in as a reactionary measure

It also makes me feel insane that the rat fuck around Biden’s age and mental capacity is being uncritically spread around by Democrats when Trump is *incredibly obviously* grotesquely mentally incapacitated, in a way that is genuinely terrifying.
It makes me feel very much unmoored from reality to see all this *buying into* the Biden Too Old ratfuck narrative, days after the Supreme Court ruled that Trump gets to be dictator for life, just weeks after Trump became a convicted felon (oh, and there’s the Epstein stuff that just came out).

Well this sure isn't about to become less relevant anytime soon, huh?
When someone in a creative field is outed as a creep, "i never thought that guy had talent" is not a useful response. Its centering you and your aesthetic tastes in a situation where they are completely irrelevant.

It can be scary to go on. It can be tempting to go limp, side with the Ancient Ones, preserve your life a little longer; why *not* join an enemy faction instead of getting crushed to a paste? And horror says: EVEN IF you have been crushed, or transformed, or even killed, you can still be human.

The Heritage Foundation is absolutely making overt terrorist threats and everyone you know needs to be aware of this.
Somebody else pointed earlier that the "bloodless if the leftists allow" (paraphrasing) bullshit sentence, is a clear terrorist threat and should probably be called like this.
