The kinda funny thing about the whole Chardonnay/Yale/hillbilly story is that in the Midwest, grads of THE Ohio State are quite proud of their institution. Now the alum who proclaimed it Hicksville is going to be famous.

A teen returned my copy of “The Hope of Elephants” by Amanda Rawson Hill. I reread it as I ponder who to loan it to next. As a mom of a young adult with a cancer predisposition syndrome (who has spent most of his life on chemo), this novel in verse gets it right. You need to read it. #kidlit

Periodic reminder: Everyone's going to have a hot take. Including George Clooney. Instead of debating the merits, we should be focusing on: 1. Are you registered to vote? 2. Have you checked your registration? 3. Have you told 5 people about Project 2025? 4. Have you called your Senators?

So true especially because folks asked to sacrifice their jobs are in fields that are A -impossible to replace said job like journalism B - paid very little to start with like librarians and teachers C - providing health benefits that most people cannot take for granted

I think it’s in questionable taste to order someone to quit their job if you’re not also offering to pay their bills.

School Library in a Nutshell:

I honestly think this issue would be approached differently if every office building, congressional hearing, car dealership, beauty salon, any place where adults gather had to do the same drills we routinely ask of 6-year-olds.

I’ve been in a classroom during an active shooter lockdown drill, it is INFURIATING. The craziest part is how good at the drill the kids were, and how visibly frazzled/upset the teacher was.

I feel like toy bongos are the things you check out from the library for your nephew when you’re still mad at your sister for ruining your favorite sweater back in high school.
