Deeply trump rooted “Republicans” don’t care and probably agree, but there’s still a Republican mainstream and a sizable independent one that needs to recognize the danger of not voting, even if it means voting against someone and not necessarily for someone.
Almost like the MSM is finally figuring out that supporting and soft peddling fascists might not be in their best interests long term.
Bout 8 years too late, but ….
It's deeply disturbing just how quickly fascism/naziism was normalized in America, in no small part bc it shows how close you all were to fascism to start with.
Fifteen years ago I was mocked as a teen for talking about Nazi activity in Ohio despite regularly seeing people with swastikas tattooed on their necks etc. Americans are often intentionally ignorant imo
Yes.
I’m old. But I can remember when they were too ashamed to admit to “Nazi” and would make up ridiculous names for themselves.
No more of that, I guess.
At this time, it is nearly impossible to overstate how extreme the GOP has gotten and how rapidly that process is accelerating. Good for NBC for calling a spade a spade.
"CPAC has been infested with Nazis for a long, long time" is well known, so I guess the jarring thing about this headline is that the media is finally willing to report that fact honestly?
After our parents and grandparents fought and died to keep the Nazi cancer from spreading, it has come to this. The Republican "big tent" has changed its shape into a giant KKK hood.
IDK, I'm more shocked that mainstream media outlets are still pretending to be shocked that Fascist Comic-Con is full of real live authoritarian religious bigots, racists and misogynists who believe elections only count when they win.
Why? It should have been said openly eight years ago. One could say it is their fear of 'jarring' people that let them use euphemisms. This is our reality and it is nice EIGHT YEARS LATER to finally start calling things what they are.
I don’t like to explain myself, but: jarring that it’s happening because despite following this beat I retain my horror at seeing this, and I can’t and choose not to do the jaded “and you’re surprised???” thing—and jarring to see it plainly said in a headline, because it should be the headline
