Saw foxglove for the first time last week (spending the month on a writer retreat/dog sitting in Scotland, taking long walks in gorgeous vegetation) and got so excited I took a million pictures!

(And with authors at least, if you can't afford their work, you can just get it from a library, which is good for you (the book itself is no additional cost!), good for the author (libraries pay for books!), and good for the library (they're being used and justifying their budgets!). I am blessed to have a really well funded public library system in my city and the suggest new title is right there in the website and in my libby app and rarely do I not get a book I requested. like...four out of a hundred.

It's my job to buy books for my local library. One thing I wish more people knew is that we are very open to suggestions for new titles. I buy 90% of books that people suggest. Please, let your library know the kinds of things you want to read. It's helpful!

I think part of it is that attributing things to Mary W Shelley let’s one rebut charges of a syllabus/collection being mostly/all men, partly it’s about claiming literary value (denying pulp roots) partly about defining genre limits (is it always about tech? limits of the human?) xcluding fantasy
