She so literally said she has a trans sister in law as some defense for being an asshole and explaining my oppression back to me and how its not that bad
Do they not even listen to Starmer's words? Like, do they... think he's lying, but only about the things they want him to by lying about? Fucking bullshit
Yes, literally yes.
The centre left position is that he's only saying these things to get into power and then once he is ;) he'll go left.
They don't really like it when I point out that means we both think he's a massive liar.
"people on boats dying" - christ that's low. How about the fucking trans teens (& not only teens) who are dying because they're denied adequate care - either I guess they don't count, or they're not as important as those poor bastards drowning in the channel.
Fuck me
But earlier he said we deserve dignity and respect!!!! And he was mad rishi upset that cis lady that one time about a trans joke!!! Who cares what the actual trans people say
I mean the ONLY way Labour want to "streamline the transition process" is so they can remove the requirement for trans people to use public facilities appropriate for them, because they fully intend to try to ban them from using those exact feckin facilities.
That's literally IT.
Yeah kinda feels like streamlining GRCs feels pretty pointless if they strip us of being able to exist otherwise: “look your paperwork will acknowledge your ‘gender identity’ in death which is good because we sure as hell won’t recognize it in your life, why aren’t you happy?”
Keeping the grc just shows they have no intention of introducing self id. The thing trans people actually want and what would be progress proven to work in other countries.
And the thing is, if he'd kept his trap shut about it for the last month he'd still be sauntering into a huge majority.
So this isn't for votes. He's showing us who he is, not for approval, but precisely because he doesn't need OUR approval any more.
I think the problem with people like her is that they never do their own research to see if something is true or not; so they end believing anything that is told to them.
Sorry you have an ally like that. Maybe I'd have more hope if it's Labour under Corbyn, but Starmer is a lighter Tory & Labour under him is more Tory. Only good reason I can see for voting Labour is to keep Tories out, things will be awful, just not as awful. I'd love Green to win, but they won't.
I voted LibDem rather than green, but that was because the LD candidate is a trans woman I know (www.mcrlibdems.uk/central ) and the Green is a former Labour Councillor.
I'd like to, it's pretty much an argument between head & heart, i'd feel dirty voting Labour but Tories get bolder with every win & are dirtier. Labour are the tactical vote for my area. We've also been a Tory safe seat, but current opinion polls show a chance of flipping it.
