Starter packs let you design a customized onboarding for a friend or someone in your community

some example use cases: - you're on bsky but your friend group is elsewhere. this recommends all your fave feeds/users and helps your friends onboard right to your community

Today, we’re releasing starter packs — personalized invites that allow you to bring friends directly into your slice of Bluesky! 🚀 Update to version 1.87 of the app or refresh desktop to create a starter pack. (It may take a moment for version 1.87 to appear in the iOS App/Google Play stores.)

You have one (1) piece of birch bark. If you write a question on it and leave it in the hollow stump, the forest will give you an answer. What do you ask?

One of Bluesky's superpowers is custom feeds. Unlike certain other platforms where we're at the mercy of black box algorithms, we control our own timelines here. if you haven’t been here for a while, here are some of the things the team has been working on!

recent improvements: - much better search - basic dms - discover feed is now more simcluster-y (expect this to keep getting tuned) - discover feed has “show less” and “show more” buttons - notifications and badges should work more reliably lots of stuff in progress including a revamp of feeds

I love it when there's clearly some kind of bluesky drama going on and I have no idea what it is. I just sit here happily going through my discover feed clicking "show more like this" on every cat photo.

DMs on Bluesky will not be "end-to-end encrypted" until we are able to do some more protocol work. We have very careful access controls within our systems. If you're extremely privacy conscious, I'd recommend using Bluesky DMs to share your Signal accounts!

Reply controls used to be up by the post button, but it wasn’t clear to people what it was, so we’ve made it more obvious now 👇

We also squeezed in some other features and fixes in this release: Now you can set who can reply to your posts more easily!
