I saw this warning not to fight. As you know, I’m generally very polite, but I don’t appreciate being admonishments about disagreeing. Misinformation puts so many patients at risk and I will disagree robustly if need be. It’s not all about sharing pics of my enchanting pups. But here they are 😀
Oh what a terrible misunderstanding! I would not by ANY means encourage anyone not to fight!
My post was very specific that fighting *in my mentions* has consequences: specifically, that the combatants will be blocked or muted. I hope that clears it up!
All the best to you in your future endeavors
If someone states that getting COVID is a nothingburger in anyone’s mentions, or claims that seeds of a plant cure cancer so drop the chemo, I will respond. In anyone’s mentions. As a grown ass doctor, that’s what I have an ethical responsibility to do. So making your statement is odd.
Yes, I can see that you perceived my post, on an account you don’t follow, as an attack on your own ability to fight for truth (in, specifically, my mentions). It’s unfortunate that we have met, for the first and last time, under such circumstances!
I could be wrong but if I remember correctly one thing the former site had that Bluesky lacks is you can focus replies in a thread just at the person you're arguing with.
I'm going to ask my daughter, an RN, what ethical responsibilities she has to respond to "falsehoods on the internet."
Actually, I'm not.
She knows I know the answer.
If people wanna fight misinformation on the internet, they're welcome to it. ON THEIR OWN FEED. But acting as if they have the right/obligation to do so in someone else's mentions? And then getting all superior at someone whose tweet that isn't even about her? Like, dang.
When one sees or hears someone else state an outright lie in a subject that one is extremely knowledgeable, and one says nothing, that makes one an enabler. This good Doctor does not enable falsehoods.
There appears to be a confounding of personal medical advice (that’s should never be given on the internet) verses asserting medically accurate information (that’s entirely appropriate and should be done to counter misinformation).
