What's the opposite of apocalypse? Trying to chronicle that.

This isn't the point but stringent water efficiency also reduces energy usage because it means you use less hot water

Also I've lived with an old water guzzling dishwasher and it was loud as eff and it didn't magically clean dishes any better. I think people romanticize not learning how to use a product
Avatar
Which reminds me, I wonder how many of the men complaining about this actually use such appliances

The heat has gotten so bad on the East Coast that it's now routine to see large men wiping their brows with slightly smaller, drier men.

It shouldn’t have taken this long or been so difficult to get the New York Post to publish a correction for an error as heinous as this.

Or maybe you'll have to abandon it cause your town no longer has water

Reality is frightening easier to retreat into lies

I used to get so much hate mail from people telling me they didn't have to care about climate change cause they're not on the coast

I didn't share it for the Palestine bit, I'm going to be in Ireland in the fall and if I'd known about the deserted village earlier I'd have made a point to try to visit it. It's not possible at this point but I shared it for the history and for others who might be traveling.

I hate daylight savings time and yet that phrasing makes me want to support it

I saw this tiktok on the deserted village in Western Ireland and the sadness in her voice all these years later www.tiktok.com/@taratoenail...

It's why I stopped watching it stopped being fun wondering who was going to be infected next. Tom Pidcock who is just a fun rider to watch had to drop out cause he had covid.
Avatar
The Tour de France masking policy should not be held as a gold standard because it's so limited as to be almost useless, they only implemented it because riders - including some fan favorites - had to drop out because of Covid and they're allowing infected riders to ride if they have no symptoms
Avatar
I'm just frustrated with these riders are wearing masks you can too. Ok but they aren't wearing them in the peloton where they are breathing in each other's aerosols (because good luck doing that level of competition in high heat in a mask) and some are choosing to ride sick.
Avatar
But I guess it's good that reporters have to wear a mask when interviewing them now. 💀

There's another issue with that project specifically the battery park chunk which is rising groundwater.
Avatar
That's the best case scenario. Like you have all of your documents. You have good insurance and your area wasn't so hard hit that there's a worker and material shortage.
Avatar
Yes it's a statistical measure but also the statistical measurements are broken because of climate change 1 in 100 year flood events are no longer 1 in 100 year anymore in a lot of places. They're more like 1 in 50 or 1 in 20 or even 1 in 10 year events.

It takes at minimum two years to recover from a storm so....

Yeah there was an attempt to move properties like that out of the way, and also widen and narrow the river to reduce the speed but only to so so effect.
Avatar
wow I can't believe i said widen and narrow I meant widen the river so like the water was flatter and slower so it would be less likely to jump its banks

She legally changed her last name so it's not like she seems to like him.

The creator discourse around it has been really good and enlightening. Him, not so much.

Unfortunately their maps are especially bad at the kind of Riparian flooding that places like Vermont are prone to.
