The correct response to Chevron being overturned is for every single environmental group to start filing millions of lawsuits, right now, today, arguing that various regulatory decisions didn't go far enough. Absolutely flood the zone.

A conversation on our Discord has prompted me to say again: remember, y'all, what really sells books is not the author talking about their work, but *readers* talking about it. Word of mouth drives far more sales than advertising or any other engine. So if you loved a book, tell your friends!

Damnit. I'm all sniffly now. I just finished listening to Nick Podehl reading @hollyblack.bsky.social's Doll Bones. What a perfect ending for that story.

Boom.
“AI” is the culmination of the tech industry. Every time you use it, you destroy the environment, erode labor protections, endanger workers overseas, enrich the ruling class, and make something unforgivably worthless, all at the same time – and it's all hidden from you in a frictionless distraction.

I cannot emphasize enough - we have a global pathway to net zero. That pathway burns to cinders the moment we accept powering “AI” as an acceptable use of energy. Climate action is wholly incompatible with expansion of “AI”

If I needed a reminder why I currently only work part time, today would do it. I worked eight hours yesterday and then spent a few hours at a local club and this morning I can barely move or think. #fibromyalgia

ChatGPT already has “Ph.D.-level intelligence,” in that once you remove it from its extremely narrow field of expertise (assembling words into credible-sounding passages) it is wildly out of its depth, but people vastly overestimate its authority because they don’t understand what “intelligence” is.

Spending the day telling everyone who comes into the library that you can't actually help them really sucks. Fortunately IT fixed the issue after a few hours instead of a couple of days this time. #librarywork

It is so hard to write a good fairie tale in the modern age. The simplicity and cruelty needed to portray the fae are often really difficult to hold on to without falling into either irony or twee magical realism. This book is beautiful and hard. I highly recommend it.

Pilot project after pilot project show results very similar to this, but no one will fully fund and launch this as a nationwide program. Imagine how much good we could do if the GOP didn't have a death grip on the media and occupying the Dem priorities.
Individuals who received the $1,000/mo or $500/mo payments were more likely to find a stable, full-time job than before they received the basic income. Results showed 45% of participants secured housing, while $589,214 was saved in public service costs. "It's freedom. It's freedom from poverty..."
Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1,000 a month. A year later, nearly half of participants had housing.www.businessinsider.com Participants in Denver's basic income program received up to $1,000 a month. They became more housing secure and landed full-time jobs.

Getting to see all the cool folks that I used to follow on Twitter meant that I had @restingdinoface.bsky.social on my mind when the person helping us out for a shift at the library walked in with a shirt covered in dinosaurs and I started babbling about The Last Days of the Dinosaurs.

Gotta love medical scheduling. First it was 4:30. Oh wait, no, you're not scheduled till 5 with your second MRI at 5:30. In the end, done by 5:15. Hard to plan accurately around such precision.

If the beginning of my year is in any way prophetic, I'm both fascinated and terrified to see the rest. My mom in the hospital, my partner's parents getting sick and one of them briefly in the hospital. And me ending a 5 year relationship on NYE.
End of feed.
